Does It Dissolve?
Dyno-tab® begins to dissolve immediately when added to fuel. The type of fuel, aromatic quality of the fuel and movement of the fuel within the tank during normal driving all influence the time it takes to fully dissolve.
In-house stationary testing shows that Dyno-tab® one-gram tablets dissolve in under two hours with no movement. Typically you would add a tablet at the gas station and continue driving. The motion of the vehicle causes the tablet to dissolve more quickly. Our tests demonstrate two important points.
First, photo number 2 shows that the tablet has begun to dissolve within minutes. The golden color of the fuel is an indicator for Dyno-tab®, and a close look at the tablet shows it is beginning to dissolve. Dyno-tab® starts to disseminate into the fuel very quickly.
Second, photo number 4 shows that the tablet is completely dissolved in under two hours without movement.

Independent
laboratory tests conducted by Saybolt Laboratories, show that a half-gram
tablet dissolved in gasoline in 17 minutes and 35.4 seconds, and dissolved in diesel
in 3 hours, 19 minutes and 17 seconds. Please see our information about the difference in using Dyno-tab® in gasoline and diesel. The reason Dyno-tab dissolves slower in diesel is because it is less aromatic. While Dyno-tab® Fuel Treatment is safe to use in diesel and there are benefits, Dyno-tab® Diesel Fuel Treatment was designed to clean injectors and provide other benefits unique to diesel fuel.
DYNO-TAB ® IS SAFE TO USE
Vehicle owners are often reluctant at first to place a solid, crumb or powdered fuel additive directly into the fuel tank. One of the most common questions we get about Dyno-tab® is: I know that the Dyno-tab® will fully dissolve over time, but what happens if the undissolved portion of the tablet is sucked into the fuel line and gets into my engine?
Your engine has built-in protections and is safe, even while Dyno-tab® is in the process of dissolving.
- There is fine screen at the opening of the fuel pickup tube in the tank. This prevents debris from whatever source from being pulled into the fuel line that delivers fuel to the engine.
- All fuel must pass through an inline fuel filter that blocks any material larger than 5 microns. As a reference, the typical human hair is 25 microns in diameter.
