What is the difference between the Dyno-tab® Plus formula and the Dyno-tab® Fuel Treatment formula?
The Dyno-tab® Fuel Treatment chemistry is primarily a combustion catalyst that improves how your engine burns fuel. The resultant benefits come from that basic fact.
Dyno-tab® Plus is a combination of two chemistries, each of which can stand alone in improving fuel characteristics. Dyno-tab® Plus acts as a detergent and dispersant in harmony with the Dyno-tab® multifunctional Fuel Treatment chemistry. That means (1) cleaning and keeping clean the fuel delivery system, and (2) stabilizing fuel to retard the fuel oxidation process that causes hydrocarbon fuel to "go off" or get bad, with resultant problems.
When injectors become clogged and fouled, they no longer properly atomize the fuel/air mixture. A fouled injector delivers an irregular liquid squirt into the combustion chamber, whereas a clean injector delivers a fine mist or fog of atomized fuel. One burns poorly, delivering poor performance, difficult starting, low power and economy and excessive amounts of smoke and unburned hydrocarbon emissions. A clean injector results in a controlled and powerful burn without smoke or unburned hydrocarbon emissions. Unburned hydrocarbons waste the fuel you bought and harm the environment. When properly burned the result is improved economy and mileage.
Bad fuel is the result of extended storage or excessive exposure to sunlight and open air. The result is that the longer chain hydrocarbon molecules agglomerate and fall toward the bottom of the tank where they form a thicker, less combustible "soup". This is the precursor of sludge. Even when this material can be burned through the system, the result is increased engine smoke, poor performance and the formation of gums and varnishes within the combustion area and on the fuel delivery parts, such as the fuel pump and injectors. When deterioration has advanced too far and the gum and varnish is too thick and gelatinous, it will not burn and must be pumped out of the tank and disposed of.

Today's fuel actually degrades faster than older generation fuels.
